Trophy Tarpon Bonefish

The Sabalo(Spanish) for Tarpon, better known as: “ The Silver King “ reigns supreme throughout it’s inshore-offshore kingdom compared to any other saltwate-trophy game specie. The trophy tarpon angler expects the strike, setting the hook hard several times, eagerly awatis the circus like thrills/maneuvers; yet unable to anticipate the volcanic eruptions of the water’s surface for the upper strata levels with this giant airborne creature’s body soaring/flexing by clearing the blue waters time after time.
True world-class schooling tarpon are targeted along Costa Rica’s coastline mainly outside river current with a distinguishable body coloration of a green/steel topline, flashing silver mirrored sides/belly, forked tail, a long trailer ended dorsal fin, and a deepened thick body. Catch and release tarpon average close to 80-100 LBS., as our seasoned,  tarpon seeking clientele each calendar year successfully make the trek to our trophy Costa Rican mecca utilizing only artificial lures to face off/bowing with Trophy-class Tarpon up to the 200 LBS. being brought to gaff boatside assisted by only top experienced and knowledgeable lodge guides.

The Bonefish, also known as the Silver Ghost or White Fox is a tropical species generally found inshore amongst white sands, shallow mud or grass flats at a depth of 1' or less, and sometimes schooled foraging over soft bottom depths stirring up clusters of mud. Fly and spin anglers sight fish by boat or wading to scan the surface waters for tell tale signs of dark spotted areas, small dispersed sand clouds, or their protruding fork tipped tails breaking the water’s surface plane. This sportfish is easily identified by it’s thick streamlined body, dark greenish back, silver colored sides, pointed nose and downward shaped mouth for efficient feeding of a variety of crabs/mollusks, worms and shrimp. Bones, known for line stripping long runs, average in size from 2-6 lbs. with the 8+ lb. sportfish recognized a trophy-class gamefish in the Caribbean Bahamas or Venezuela to the far western Mexican Gulf coastline. Each season Trophy Bonefish and Permit anglers return to our renowned resorts in the Bahamas and the country of Belize, designating it the prime destinations to continually pursue their World-class Permit or Bonefish.
